And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

耶穌曰、新娶者偕在、賀娶者豈能哀慟乎、惟日將至、新娶者見接而去、乃禁食耳、

耶穌曰、新娶者在、賀娶者豈有哀慟乎、惟將來新娶者別之去、時乃禁食耳、

耶穌答曰、新娶者、與賀娶之客同在、賀娶之客、豈能悲哀乎、惟將來新娶者別之去、彼時則禁食、

耶穌對曰：『新壻之友、方伴新壻、詎能哀泣？他日新壻被刼而去、斯彼齋戒時矣。

Jesus answered,“ How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.

Jesus answered,“ How can the guests of the groom be sad while he is with them? The time will come when the groom will be taken away from them. Then they will fast.

And Jesus said to them,“ Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.

Jesus replied,“ Do wedding guests mourn while celebrating with the groom? Of course not. But someday the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.

Jesus said to them,“ Can the wedding guests be sad while the groom is with them? The time will come when the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.

And Jesus said to them,“ The attendants of the groom cannot mourn as long as the groom is with them, can they? But the days will come when the groom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.

And Jesus said to them,“ Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.

And Jesus said unto them, Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then will they fast.

Jesus said to them,“ Can the wedding guests be sad while the groom is with them? The time will come when the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.

Jesus said to them,“ The wedding guests cannot mourn while the bridegroom is with them, can they? But the days are coming when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and then they will fast.

Jesus said to them,“ Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.

He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.

And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed[ are] they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid[ their] hands on them, they sent[ them] away.

And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

And in that day did the Lord GOD of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth:

And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem[ about] threescore furlongs.And they talked together of all these things which had happened.And it came to pass, that, while they communed[ together] and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.And he said unto them, What manner of communications[ are] these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.And five of them were wise, and five[ were] foolish.They that[ were] foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.But the wise answered, saying,[ Not so]; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

Defraud ye not one the other, except[ it be] with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king’s palace.

But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him.And Samson said unto them, I will now put forth a riddle unto you: if ye can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find[ it] out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments:But if ye cannot declare[ it] me, then shall ye give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may hear it.And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson’s wife, Entice thy husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father’s house with fire: have ye called us to take that we have?[ is it] not[ so]?And Samson’s wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not: thou hast put forth a riddle unto the children of my people, and hast not told[ it] me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told[ it] my father nor my mother, and shall I tell[ it] thee?And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she lay sore upon him: and she told the riddle to the children of her people.And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What[ is] sweeter than honey? and what[ is] stronger than a lion? And he said unto them, If ye had not plowed with my heifer, ye had not found out my riddle.And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father’s house.But Samson’s wife was[ given] to his companion, whom he had used as his friend.

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
