法利賽人看見了，就對他的門徒說：“你們的老師為甚麼跟稅吏和罪人一起吃飯呢？”

法利賽派的經學家，看見耶穌與罪人和稅吏一起吃飯，就對耶穌的門徒說：“他跟稅吏和罪人一起吃飯嗎？”

眾稅吏和罪人，都接近耶穌，要聽他講道。法利賽人和經學家，紛紛議論說：“這個人接待罪人，又和他們一起吃飯。”

我以前寫信告訴你們，不可與淫亂的人來往。這話當然不是指這世上行淫亂的、貪心的、勒索的，或拜偶像的人；如果是這樣，你們就非脫離這世界不可。但現在我寫信告訴你們，如果有稱為弟兄，卻是行淫亂、貪心、拜偶像、辱罵人、醉酒或勒索的，這樣的人，不可和他來往，連和他吃飯都不可。

我們生來是猶太人，不是外族中的罪人；

他能夠溫和地對待那些無知和迷誤的人，因為他自己也被軟弱所困。

眾人看見就紛紛議論說：“他竟到罪人家裡去住宿！”

並且對人說：“你站遠一點！不要挨近我，因為我會使你聖潔。”主說：“這些人是我鼻中的煙，是整天燒著的火。

他們回到門徒那裡，看見一大群人圍著他們，又有經學家和他們辯論。眾人看見了耶穌，都很驚奇，就跑上前去向他問安。他問他們：“你們和他們辯論甚麼？”
