船到了格拉森人的地區，正在加利利對面，耶穌一上岸，就有城裡一個被鬼附著的人，迎面而來。這人已經很久不穿衣服，不住在家裡，只住在墳墓裡。他一見耶穌，就俯伏喊叫，大聲說：“至高神的兒子耶穌，我跟你有甚麼關係呢？求你不要使我受苦。”因為耶穌已經吩咐這污靈從那人身上出來。原來這污靈屢次抓住那人；那人被鐵鍊和腳鍊捆鎖，而且有人看管，他竟掙斷鎖鍊，被鬼趕入曠野。耶穌問他：“你叫甚麼名字？”他說：“群。”因為進到那人裡面的鬼很多。他們求耶穌，不要趕他們進入無底坑。那裡有一大群豬正在山上吃東西。他們求耶穌准他們進入豬群。耶穌准許了，鬼就從那人身上出來，進入豬群，豬群闖下山崖，掉在海裡淹死了。放豬的看見所發生的事就逃跑，到城裡和各鄉村把這事傳開。眾人就出來看發生了甚麼事。來到耶穌那裡，看見鬼已經離開的那人，穿著衣服，神志清醒，坐在耶穌腳前，他們就害怕。當時看見的人，把被鬼附過的人怎樣得到醫治，說給他們聽。格拉森一帶的人，都要求耶穌離開他們，因為他們大大懼怕。他就上船回去了。鬼已經離開的那人求耶穌，要跟他在一起；但耶穌打發他回去，說：“你回家去，述說神為你作了怎樣的事。”他就走遍全城，傳講耶穌為他作了怎樣的事。

他們到了海的那邊，進入格拉森人的地區。耶穌一下船，就有一個被污靈附著的人，從墓地裡迎面而來。那人經常住在墳墓中間，從來沒有人能綁住他，甚至用鎖鍊都不能。曾經有很多次，人用腳鐐和鎖鍊捆綁他，鎖鍊卻被他掙斷，腳鐐也被他弄碎，始終沒有人能制伏他。他晝夜在墳墓裡和山野間喊叫，又用石頭砍自己。他遠遠地看見耶穌，就跑過去拜他，大聲呼叫，說：“至高神的兒子耶穌，我跟你有甚麼關係呢？我指著神懇求你，不要叫我受苦。”因為當時耶穌吩咐他：“你這污靈，從這人身上出來！”耶穌問他：“你叫甚麼名字？”他回答：“我名叫‘群’，因為我們眾多。”他再三央求耶穌，不要把他們從那地方趕走。附近的山坡上有一大群豬正在吃東西；污靈求耶穌說：“打發我們到豬群那裡附在豬身上吧。”耶穌准了他們。污靈就出來，進到豬群裡去，於是那群豬闖下山崖，掉在海裡淹死了，豬的數目約有兩千。放豬的人都逃跑了，到城裡和各鄉村去報告，大家就來看發生了甚麼事。他們來到耶穌跟前，看見那被鬼附過的人，就是曾被名叫‘群’的鬼附過的人，坐在那裡，穿上了衣服，神志清醒，他們就害怕。看見的人把被鬼附過的人所遭遇的和那群豬的事，告訴了他們。他們就要求耶穌離開他們的地區。耶穌上船的時候，那被鬼附過的人來求他，要和他在一起。耶穌不許，卻對他說：“你回家到你的親屬那裡去，把主為你作了多麼大的事，並他怎樣憐憫你，都告訴他們。”那人就走了，開始在低加波利傳講耶穌為他所作的大事，眾人都希奇。

並且知道神怎樣用聖靈和能力膏立拿撒勒人耶穌。他到各處行善事，醫好所有被魔鬼壓制的人，因為神與他同在。

他的名聲傳遍了敘利亞全地，人們就把一切患病的，就是患各種疾病、疼痛、鬼附、癲癇、癱瘓的，都帶到他面前，他就醫好他們。

在亞拿的兒子珊迦的時候，在雅億的日子，大道無人行走，行路的人繞道而行。

亞摩利人、迦南人、革迦撒人、耶布斯人之地。”
