船到了格拉森人的地区，正在加利利对面，耶稣一上岸，就有城里一个被鬼附着的人，迎面而来。这人已经很久不穿衣服，不住在家里，只住在坟墓里。他一见耶稣，就俯伏喊叫，大声说：“至高神的儿子耶稣，我跟你有什么关系呢？求你不要使我受苦。”因为耶稣已经吩咐这污灵从那人身上出来。原来这污灵屡次抓住那人；那人被铁链和脚链捆锁，而且有人看管，他竟挣断锁链，被鬼赶入旷野。耶稣问他：“你叫什么名字？”他说：“群。”因为进到那人里面的鬼很多。他们求耶稣，不要赶他们进入无底坑。那里有一大群猪正在山上吃东西。他们求耶稣准他们进入猪群。耶稣准许了，鬼就从那人身上出来，进入猪群，猪群闯下山崖，掉在海里淹死了。放猪的看见所发生的事就逃跑，到城里和各乡村把这事传开。众人就出来看发生了什么事。来到耶稣那里，看见鬼已经离开的那人，穿着衣服，神志清醒，坐在耶稣脚前，他们就害怕。当时看见的人，把被鬼附过的人怎样得到医治，说给他们听。格拉森一带的人，都要求耶稣离开他们，因为他们大大惧怕。他就上船回去了。鬼已经离开的那人求耶稣，要跟他在一起；但耶稣打发他回去，说：“你回家去，述说神为你作了怎样的事。”他就走遍全城，传讲耶稣为他作了怎样的事。

他们到了海的那边，进入格拉森人的地区。耶稣一下船，就有一个被污灵附着的人，从墓地里迎面而来。那人经常住在坟墓中间，从来没有人能绑住他，甚至用锁链都不能。曾经有很多次，人用脚镣和锁链捆绑他，锁链却被他挣断，脚镣也被他弄碎，始终没有人能制伏他。他昼夜在坟墓里和山野间喊叫，又用石头砍自己。他远远地看见耶稣，就跑过去拜他，大声呼叫，说：“至高神的儿子耶稣，我跟你有什么关系呢？我指着神恳求你，不要叫我受苦。”因为当时耶稣吩咐他：“你这污灵，从这人身上出来！”耶稣问他：“你叫什么名字？”他回答：“我名叫‘群’，因为我们众多。”他再三央求耶稣，不要把他们从那地方赶走。附近的山坡上有一大群猪正在吃东西；污灵求耶稣说：“打发我们到猪群那里附在猪身上吧。”耶稣准了他们。污灵就出来，进到猪群里去，于是那群猪闯下山崖，掉在海里淹死了，猪的数目约有两千。放猪的人都逃跑了，到城里和各乡村去报告，大家就来看发生了什么事。他们来到耶稣跟前，看见那被鬼附过的人，就是曾被名叫‘群’的鬼附过的人，坐在那里，穿上了衣服，神志清醒，他们就害怕。看见的人把被鬼附过的人所遭遇的和那群猪的事，告诉了他们。他们就要求耶稣离开他们的地区。耶稣上船的时候，那被鬼附过的人来求他，要和他在一起。耶稣不许，却对他说：“你回家到你的亲属那里去，把主为你作了多么大的事，并他怎样怜悯你，都告诉他们。”那人就走了，开始在低加波利传讲耶稣为他所作的大事，众人都希奇。

并且知道神怎样用圣灵和能力膏立拿撒勒人耶稣。他到各处行善事，医好所有被魔鬼压制的人，因为神与他同在。

他的名声传遍了叙利亚全地，人们就把一切患病的，就是患各种疾病、疼痛、鬼附、癫痫、瘫痪的，都带到他面前，他就医好他们。

在亚拿的儿子珊迦的时候，在雅亿的日子，大道无人行走，行路的人绕道而行。

亚摩利人、迦南人、革迦撒人、耶布斯人之地。”
