一日、耶穌偕門徒登舟、諭曰：『盍渡彼岸！』乃起椗而駛、耶穌寢焉、湖上風波忽作、水盈舟、勢危急；門徒醒之曰：『夫子、夫子、吾儕死矣。』耶穌起斥風浪、風浪立止、一片安恬、萬籟俱寂。耶穌乃謂其徒曰：『爾信德安在？』眾皆愕然而相語曰：『斯果何人？並風與水、亦惟命是從矣。』

門徒既遣散群眾、與耶穌同舟而渡、亦有他舟與俱。暴風忽起、巨浪襲舟、舟幾沒、而耶穌方倚枕眠於梢。徒醒之曰：『吾儕死矣、師尚恬然自若耶？』耶穌醒而斥風、並謂海曰：『靜毋喧！』於是風平浪靜、一片安寧。乃謂徒曰：『胡斯餒也？豈尚無信德乎？』眾駭甚、彼此相告曰：『斯何人哉！並風與海亦惟命是聽矣！』

耶穌乘舟返本城、

乃謂二人曰：『爾曹即以所見所聞、回報可也：盲者明矣、跛者行矣、癩者潔矣、聾者聰矣、死者起矣、而窮苦無告者得聆嘉音。
