As a result, they would carry the sick out into the streets and lay them on cots and mats so that when Peter came by, at least his shadow might fall on some of them.

Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists attempted to pronounce the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying,“ I command you by the Jesus that Paul preaches!”Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this.The evil spirit answered them,“ I know Jesus, and I recognize Paul— but who are you?”Then the man who had the evil spirit leaped on them, overpowered them all, and prevailed against them, so that they ran out of that house naked and wounded.

Jesus was going all over Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.Then the news about Him spread throughout Syria. So they brought to Him all those who were afflicted, those suffering from various diseases and intense pains, the demon-possessed, the epileptics, and the paralytics. And He healed them.

Then they came to Him bringing a paralytic, carried by four men.

Just then some men brought to Him a paralytic lying on a mat. Seeing their faith, Jesus told the paralytic,“ Have courage, son, your sins are forgiven.”

But Jesus rebuked him and said,“ Be quiet, and come out of him!”And the unclean spirit convulsed him, shouted with a loud voice, and came out of him.Then they were all amazed, so they began to argue with one another, saying,“ What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.”

Then the men who tended them fled. They went into the city and reported everything— especially what had happened to those who were demon-possessed.

When Jesus saw that a crowd was rapidly coming together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it,“ You mute and deaf spirit, I command you: come out of him and never enter him again!”
