耶穌看見許多人圍著他，就吩咐往對岸去。

於是有許多人從加利利、低加波利、耶路撒冷、猶太和約旦河東來跟從耶穌。耶穌看見群眾，就上了山；他坐下之後，門徒來到他跟前，

有許多人來到他那裡，把瘸腿的、瞎眼的、殘廢的、啞的和許多別的病人，都帶到耶穌跟前，他就醫好他們。

但他的名聲卻越發傳揚出去，成群的人來聚集，要聽道，並且要使他們的疾病痊愈。

有許多人與耶穌同行，他轉身對他們說：“如果有人到我這裡來，愛我不超過愛（“愛我不超過愛”原文作“不恨”）自己的父母、妻子、兒女、兄弟、姊妹，甚至自己的性命，就不能作我的門徒。凡不背著自己的十字架跟隨我的，也不能作我的門徒。

耶穌知道了，就離開那裡。有很多人跟隨他，他醫好他們所有的病人，

他們從耶利哥出來的時候，有許多人跟著耶穌。

耶穌和門徒退到海邊去，一大群從加利利來的人跟著他；

有許多人跟著他；他在那裡醫好了他們。
