They were amazed at his teaching, because he spoke with authority.

The people there were amazed by his teaching, because he taught them like one who had authority, not like the experts in the law.

When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue. Many who heard him were astonished, saying,“ Where did he get these ideas? And what is this wisdom that has been given to him? What are these miracles that are done through his hands?

The officers replied,“ No one ever spoke like this man!”

Then the Jewish leaders were astonished and said,“ How does this man know so much when he has never had formal instruction?”

but they could not find a way to do it, for all the people hung on his words.

Now when Jesus finished these parables, he moved on from there.Then he came to his hometown and began to teach the people in their synagogue. They were astonished and said,“ Where did this man get such wisdom and miraculous powers?

All were speaking well of him, and were amazed at the gracious words coming out of his mouth. They said,“ Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”

When the crowds heard this, they were amazed at his teaching.

Now when Jesus finished these sayings, he left Galilee and went to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan River.

The chief priests and the experts in the law heard it and they considered how they could assassinate him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed by his teaching.

When Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in their towns.

You are the most handsome of all men! You speak in an impressive and fitting manner! For this reason God grants you continual blessings.
