如果我們領受了真理的知識以後，還是故意犯罪，就再沒有留下贖罪的祭品了；只好恐懼地等待著審判，和那快要吞滅眾仇敵的烈火。如果有人干犯了摩西的律法，憑著兩三個證人，他尚且得不到憐憫而死；何況是踐踏神的兒子，把那使他成聖的立約的血當作俗物，又侮辱施恩的聖靈的人，你們想想，他不是應該受更嚴厲的刑罰嗎？因為我們知道誰說過：“伸冤在我，我必報應。”又說：“主必定審判他自己的子民。”落在永活的神手裡，真是可怕的。

如果他們因為認識我們的主、救主耶穌基督，可以脫離世上的污穢，後來又在其中被纏住、受制伏，他們末了的景況，就比先前的更不好了。既然認識了義路，竟又背棄傳給他們的聖誡命，對他們來說，倒不如不認識好得多了。他們的情形，正像俗語所說的：“狗轉過來，又吃自己所吐的；豬洗淨了，又到污泥中去打滾。”

凡是聽了天國的道卻不明白的，那惡者就來把撒在他心中的奪去。這就是撒在路旁的。那撒在石地上的，就是人聽了道，立刻歡歡喜喜地接受，可是他裡面沒有根，只是暫時的；一旦為道遭遇患難，受到迫害，就立刻跌倒了。那撒在荊棘裡的，就是人聽了道，有今世的憂慮和財富的迷惑把道擠住，結不出果實來。

各人的工程將來必要顯露，因為那日子必把它顯明出來。有火要把它顯露出來，那火要考驗各人的工程是怎樣的。

因為他們迷惑了我的子民，說：‘平安了。’其實沒有平安。有人築起薄牆的時候，他們就用灰泥粉刷那牆。所以你要對那些用灰泥粉刷那牆的人說：‘那牆要倒塌，必有暴雨漫過。大冰雹啊！你們要降下，狂風也必暴颳。’那牆倒塌以後，人豈不會問你們：‘你們所粉刷的在哪裡呢？’”因此，主耶和華這樣說：“我要在我的烈怒中使狂風暴颳；在我的忿怒中有暴雨漫過；在烈怒中有大冰雹降下毀滅這牆。我要拆毀你們用灰泥粉刷的牆。使它傾倒在地，以致根基露出來；牆必倒塌，你們必在其中滅亡；你們就知道我是耶和華。我必這樣向牆，和向那些用灰泥粉刷這牆的人發盡我的烈怒。我要對他們說：‘牆沒有了！粉刷那牆的人也沒有了！’粉刷那牆的人，就是以色列的眾先知；他們指著耶路撒冷說預言，在沒有平安的時候，為這城見平安的異象。這是主耶和華的宣告。

“有一個污靈離開了一個人，走遍乾旱之地，尋找棲身的地方，卻沒有找到。他就說：‘我要回到我從前離開了的那房子。’到了之後，看見裡面空著，已經打掃乾淨，粉飾好了，他就去帶了另外七個比自己更惡的污靈來，一齊進去住在那裡；那人後來的情況，比以前更壞了。這邪惡的世代也會這樣。”
