For merely listening to the law doesn’t make us right with God. It is obeying the law that makes us right in his sight.

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

“ So why do you keep calling me‘ Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say?

Jesus replied,“ But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.”

Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling,‘ Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!’“ But he called back,‘ Believe me, I don’t know you!’

For it is my Father’s will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day.”

Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.

All who are victorious will be clothed in white. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and his angels that they are mine.

So God’s rest is there for people to enter, but those who first heard this good news failed to enter because they disobeyed God.

may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.

“ Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.

Jesus replied,“ I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.

You won’t spend the rest of your lives chasing your own desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God.

How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete.And so it happened just as the Scriptures say:“ Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God.So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone.Rahab the prostitute is another example. She was shown to be right with God by her actions when she hid those messengers and sent them safely away by a different road.Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.

Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!”

Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will be permitted to enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life.

Anyone who wants to do the will of God will know whether my teaching is from God or is merely my own.

I’ll say it again— it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!”

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Then he said,“ I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Anyone who does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”

God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.

Dear friends, if we don’t feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence.And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him.And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us.Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us lives in us.

“ The master was full of praise.‘ Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’

Anyone who hates me also hates my Father.

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Epaphras, a member of your own fellowship and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends you his greetings. He always prays earnestly for you, asking God to make you strong and perfect, fully confident that you are following the whole will of God.

Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you. As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart.

It is God’s will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you.

Now Israel pleads with me,‘ Help us, for you are our God!’But it is too late. The people of Israel have rejected what is good, and now their enemies will chase after them.

But Jesus replied,“ My Father is always working, and so am I.”

They will rule the nations with an iron rod and smash them like clay pots.

Jesus replied,“ You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being.

“ That’s what my heavenly Father will do to you if you refuse to forgive your brothers and sisters from your heart.”

“ Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father.

A group of Jews was traveling from town to town casting out evil spirits. They tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus in their incantation, saying,“ I command you in the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, to come out!”Seven sons of Sceva, a leading priest, were doing this.But one time when they tried it, the evil spirit replied,“ I know Jesus, and I know Paul, but who are you?”Then the man with the evil spirit leaped on them, overpowered them, and attacked them with such violence that they fled from the house, naked and battered.The story of what happened spread quickly all through Ephesus, to Jews and Greeks alike. A solemn fear descended on the city, and the name of the Lord Jesus was greatly honored.Many who became believers confessed their sinful practices.A number of them who had been practicing sorcery brought their incantation books and burned them at a public bonfire. The value of the books was several million dollars.So the message about the Lord spread widely and had a powerful effect.

Jesus looked around and said to his disciples,“ How hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God!”This amazed them. But Jesus said again,“ Dear children, it is very hard to enter the Kingdom of God.

If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!”

Then Jesus left them a second time and prayed,“ My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will be done.”

He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying,“ My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

“ I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.

And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out. It’s better to enter the Kingdom of God with only one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell,
