They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good. (niv)

The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels. (niv)

Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience, (niv)

equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (niv)

Jesus replied,“ Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. (niv)

Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon- possessed. They would say,“ In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.”Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this.One day the evil spirit answered them,“ Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?”Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.When this became known to the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus, they were all seized with fear, and the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor.Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed what they had done.A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas.In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power. (niv)

Jesus looked around and said to his disciples,“ How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!”The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again,“ Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! (niv)

If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” (niv)

He went away a second time and prayed,“ My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.” (niv)

Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed,“ My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” (niv)

“ Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. (niv)

And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, (niv)
