For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

People who are ungodly run after all those things. Your Father who is in heaven knows that you need them.

For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.

For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

For the idolaters eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!

These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs.

The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.

By the power of your hand, O Lord, destroy those who look to this world for their reward. But satisfy the hunger of your treasured ones. May their children have plenty, leaving an inheritance for their descendants.

With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused.

“ You fathers— if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead?Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course not!So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.”

not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways.

But Jesus called them together and said,“ You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them.But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant,

If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much.If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that.
