故此我告訴你們，不要為你們的性命來掛慮、要喫甚麼、或喝甚麼；也不要為你們的身體來掛慮、要穿甚麼。性命不是勝於食物，而身體勝於服裝麼？

應當一無掛慮，只要凡事藉着禱告和祈求、用感謝心將你們所求的稟知在上帝面前，

所以你們不要掛慮說：「我們要喫甚麼？」或「要喝甚麼？」或是「要披戴甚麼？」

耶穌對他們說：『我從前差遣你們不帶着錢囊口袋和鞋，那時你們缺少了甚麼沒有？』他們說：『沒有。』耶穌就對他們說：『但如今呢、有錢囊的可以帶着了；有口袋的也照樣可帶；沒有刀的，要賣衣裳去買刀。

約翰回答他們說：『有兩件褂子的、要分給沒有的；有食物的也要這樣行。』

你們察看百合花，它怎樣不紡績，不編織；然而我告訴你們，就是所羅門在他極盛的榮華時所披戴的、還不如這些花的一朵呢！

路上不要帶口袋，不要帶兩件褂子，不要帶鞋，或帶手杖；因為工人是配得其食物的。
