「所以我告訴你們：不要為你們的生命而憂慮吃什麼、喝什麼；也不要為你們的身體而憂慮穿什麼；難道生命不比食物更重要，身體不比衣服更重要嗎？

在任何事上都不要憂慮；然而要在一切事上，藉著禱告和祈求，以感謝的心把你們所求的告訴神。

所以不要憂慮，說『我們吃什麼？喝什麼？穿什麼？』

接著耶穌問他們：「我從前差派你們出去的時候，你們不帶錢包、行囊、鞋子，你們缺少過什麼沒有？」他們說：「沒有。」耶穌卻對他們說：「但現在，有錢包的應當帶著；同樣，有行囊的也應當帶著；沒有刀的，應當賣掉自己的外衣去買一把。

約翰回答說：「有兩件衣服的，當分給那沒有的；有食物的，也當如此做。」

「應該想一想百合花是怎麼生長的：它不勞動，也不紡織。但是我告訴你們：就連所羅門在他最榮耀的時候，所穿戴的也不如這些花中的一朵。

在路上不要帶行囊，不要帶兩件衣服，也不要帶鞋子和手杖，因為工人配得自己的食物。
