“ Do not accumulate for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.

Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,“ I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”

“ Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”

Look here, you rich people: Weep and groan with anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you.Your wealth is rotting away, and your fine clothes are moth eaten rags.Your gold and silver are corroded. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh like fire. This corroded treasure you have hoarded will testify against you on the day of judgment.

Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit.In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle.

So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.

When Jesus heard his answer, he said,“ There is still one thing you haven’t done. Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

How much better to get wisdom than gold, and good judgment than silver!

“ Sell your possessions and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! And the purses of heaven never get old or develop holes. Your treasure will be safe; no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it.

Your silver and gold will not save you on that day of the Lord’s anger. For the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy. He will make a terrifying end of all the people on earth.

Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness!The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth— except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers!People who work hard sleep well, whether they eat little or much. But the rich seldom get a good night’s sleep.There is another serious problem I have seen under the sun. Hoarding riches harms the saver.Money is put into risky investments that turn sour, and everything is lost. In the end, there is nothing left to pass on to one’s children.

Riches won’t help on the day of judgment, but right living can save you from death.

When Jesus saw this, he said,“ How hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God!

Don’t make your living by extortion or put your hope in stealing. And if your wealth increases, don’t make it the center of your life.

We are merely moving shadows, and all our busy rushing ends in nothing. We heap up wealth, not knowing who will spend it.

Jesus told him,“ If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

“ Have I put my trust in money or felt secure because of my gold?

God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please him. But if a sinner becomes wealthy, God takes the wealth away and gives it to those who please him. This, too, is meaningless— like chasing the wind.
