“ Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;

『別為自己積儹財寶在地上了；地上有蟲子和鏽能弄壞，地上有賊能挖窟窿來偷。

「你們不要為自己在地上積蓄財寶，地上有蟲蛀，會鏽蝕，也有盜賊鑽進來偷竊；

勿積財於地、其處蠹蝕銹壞、盜穴而竊之、

勿積財於地蠹食銹壞、盜穴而竊之處、

勿積財於地、彼有蠹蝕朽壞、有盜穿窬而竊、

爾毋儲富於地；蠹蝕焉、銹敗焉、竊者穿窬而盜焉。

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

“ Do not accumulate for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.

“ Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal;

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said,“ I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

“ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you!Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days.

Do not overwork to be rich; Because of your own understanding, cease!Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle toward heaven.

And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.

So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him,“ You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.

Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys.

Neither their silver nor their gold Shall be able to deliver them In the day of the LORD’s wrath; But the whole land shall be devoured By the fire of His jealousy, For He will make speedy riddance Of all those who dwell in the land.

He who loves silver will not be satisfied with silver; Nor he who loves abundance, with increase. This also is vanity.When goods increase, They increase who eat them; So what profit have the owners Except to see them with their eyes?The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, Whether he eats little or much; But the abundance of the rich will not permit him to sleep.There is a severe evil which I have seen under the sun: Riches kept for their owner to his hurt.But those riches perish through misfortune; When he begets a son, there is nothing in his hand.

Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, But righteousness delivers from death.

And when Jesus saw that he became very sorrowful, He said,“ How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!

Do not trust in oppression, Nor vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, Do not set your heart on them.

Surely every man walks about like a shadow; Surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches, And does not know who will gather them.

Jesus said to him,“ If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

“ If I have made gold my hope, Or said to fine gold,‘ You are my confidence’;

For God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy to a man who is good in His sight; but to the sinner He gives the work of gathering and collecting, that he may give to him who is good before God. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.
