Your life should be free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for He Himself has said, I will never leave you or forsake you.

“ That’s how it is with the one who stores up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”

Come now, you rich people! Weep and wail over the miseries that are coming on you.Your wealth is ruined and your clothes are moth-eaten.Your silver and gold are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You stored up treasure in the last days!

Don’t wear yourself out to get rich; stop giving your attention to it.As soon as your eyes fly to it, it disappears, for it makes wings for itself and flies like an eagle to the sky.

But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these.But those who want to be rich fall into temptation, a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge people into ruin and destruction.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and by craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains.

Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be arrogant or to set their hope on the uncertainty of wealth, but on God, who richly provides us with all things to enjoy.

When Jesus heard this, He told him,“ You still lack one thing: Sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”

Get wisdom— how much better it is than gold! And get understanding— it is preferable to silver.

Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Make money-bags for yourselves that won’t grow old, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.

Their silver and their gold will not be able to rescue them on the day of the Lord’s wrath. The whole earth will be consumed by the fire of His jealousy. For He will make a complete, yes, a horrifying end of all the inhabitants of the earth.

The one who loves money is never satisfied with money, and whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with income. This too is futile.When good things increase, the ones who consume them multiply; what, then, is the profit to the owner, except to gaze at them with his eyes?The sleep of the worker is sweet, whether he eats little or much, but the abundance of the rich permits him no sleep.There is a sickening tragedy I have seen under the sun: wealth kept by its owner to his harm.That wealth was lost in a bad venture, so when he fathered a son, he was empty-handed.

Wealth is not profitable on a day of wrath, but righteousness rescues from death.

Seeing that he became sad, Jesus said,“ How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!

Place no trust in oppression, or false hope in robbery. If wealth increases, pay no attention to it.

“ Certainly, man walks about like a mere shadow. Indeed, they frantically rush around in vain, gathering possessions without knowing who will get them.

“ If you want to be perfect,” Jesus said to him,“ go, sell your belongings and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”

If I placed my confidence in gold or called fine gold my trust,

For to the man who is pleasing in His sight, He gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy, but to the sinner He gives the task of gathering and accumulating in order to give to the one who is pleasing in God’s sight. This too is futile and a pursuit of the wind.
