「你們不要為自己在地上積蓄財寶，地上有蟲蛀，會鏽蝕，也有盜賊鑽進來偷竊；

勿積財於地、其處蠹蝕銹壞、盜穴而竊之、

勿積財於地蠹食銹壞、盜穴而竊之處、

勿積財於地、彼有蠹蝕朽壞、有盜穿窬而竊、

爾毋儲富於地；蠹蝕焉、銹敗焉、竊者穿窬而盜焉。

你們為人不要貪愛錢財，要以現在所有的為滿足；因為神親自說過：“我決不撇下你，也不離棄你。”

凡為自己積財，在神面前卻不富足的，也是這樣。”

你們富有的人哪，應當為那將要臨到你們的災禍哭泣哀號。你們的財物朽壞了，你們的衣服給蛀了，你們的金銀生鏽，這鏽要成為控告你們的鐵證，又要像火一樣吞吃你們的肉。你們竟然在這末後的日子積聚財寶。

不要勞碌求富，你要明智地放下這企圖。你的眼睛注視在錢財上，錢財卻不見了，因為錢財必長起翅膀，如鷹飛往天上。

只要有衣有食，就應當知足。但那些想要發財的人，就落在試探中和陷阱裡；又落在許多無知而有害的私慾裡，使人沉淪在敗壞和滅亡中；因為貪財是萬惡之根。有人貪愛錢財，就被引誘離開真道，用許多痛苦把自己刺透了。

你要囑咐那些今世富有的人，叫他們不要心高氣傲，也不要寄望在浮動的財富上，卻要仰望那厚賜百物給我們享用的神。

耶穌聽了，就告訴他：“你還缺少一件，應當變賣你一切所有的，分給窮人，你就必定有財寶在天上，而且你還要來跟從我。”

得智慧勝過得金子，選擇哲理，勝過選擇銀子。

當變賣你們所有的施捨給人，為自己製造不朽壞的錢囊，積蓄用不盡的財寶在天上，就是賊不能近、蟲不能蛀的地方。

在耶和華發怒的日子，他們的金銀也不能救他們，全地都要被他的妒火吞滅；因為他要徹底毀滅地上所有的居民，真是可怕的毀滅。

貪愛銀子的，不因有銀子滿足；貪愛財富的，也不因得利知足。這也是虛空。財物增加，吃用的人也增加，物主除了眼看以外，還有甚麼益處呢？勞力的人無論吃多吃少，都睡得甜；財主的豐足，卻不容他安睡。我看見日光之下有一令人痛心的憾事，就是財主積聚財富，反受其害。遭遇禍患，財富就盡失；他即使生了兒子，也沒有甚麼留給他。

在神發怒的日子，財物毫無益處；唯有公義能救人脫離死亡。

耶穌見他這樣，就說：“富有的人要進神的國，是多麼難哪！

不要倚靠藉強暴得來的財物，也不要妄想倚靠搶奪回來的錢財；如果財寶加增，你的心也不要倚靠它。

世人來來往往只是幻影，他們忙亂也是虛空；積聚財物，卻不知道誰要來收取。

耶穌對他說：“如果你想要完全，就去變賣你所有的，分給窮人，你就必定有財寶在天上，而且你要來跟從我。”

我若以黃金為我所信靠的，又對精金說：‘你是我所靠賴的’；

神把智慧、知識和喜樂賜給他所喜悅的人，卻使罪人作收集和積聚的差事，把所得的歸給神所喜悅的人。這也是虛空，也是捕風。
