But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

Then Peter came to him and asked,“ Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?”“ No, not seven times,” Jesus replied,“ but seventy times seven!“ Therefore, the Kingdom of Heaven can be compared to a king who decided to bring his accounts up to date with servants who had borrowed money from him.In the process, one of his debtors was brought in who owed him millions of dollars.He couldn’t pay, so his master ordered that he be sold— along with his wife, his children, and everything he owned— to pay the debt.“ But the man fell down before his master and begged him,‘ Please, be patient with me, and I will pay it all.’Then his master was filled with pity for him, and he released him and forgave his debt.“ But when the man left the king, he went to a fellow servant who owed him a few thousand dollars. He grabbed him by the throat and demanded instant payment.“ His fellow servant fell down before him and begged for a little more time.‘ Be patient with me, and I will pay it,’ he pleaded.But his creditor wouldn’t wait. He had the man arrested and put in prison until the debt could be paid in full.“ When some of the other servants saw this, they were very upset. They went to the king and told him everything that had happened.Then the king called in the man he had forgiven and said,‘ You evil servant! I forgave you that tremendous debt because you pleaded with me.Shouldn’t you have mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had mercy on you?’Then the angry king sent the man to prison to be tortured until he had paid his entire debt.“ That’s what my heavenly Father will do to you if you refuse to forgive your brothers and sisters from your heart.”

Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.

then hear from heaven where you live, and forgive. Give your people what their actions deserve, for you alone know each human heart.

Who do you suppose loved him more after that?”Simon answered,“ I suppose the one for whom he canceled the larger debt.”“ That’s right,” Jesus said.Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon,“ Look at this woman kneeling here. When I entered your home, you didn’t offer me water to wash the dust from my feet, but she has washed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair.You didn’t greet me with a kiss, but from the time I first came in, she has not stopped kissing my feet.You neglected the courtesy of olive oil to anoint my head, but she has anointed my feet with rare perfume.“ I tell you, her sins— and they are many— have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.”Then Jesus said to the woman,“ Your sins are forgiven.”

“ O Lord, hear. O Lord, forgive. O Lord, listen and act! For your own sake, do not delay, O my God, for your people and your city bear your name.”

“ Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins.

They replied,“ We will give back everything and demand nothing more from the people. We will do as you say.” Then I called the priests and made the nobles and officials swear to do what they had promised.I shook out the folds of my robe and said,“ If you fail to keep your promise, may God shake you like this from your homes and from your property!” The whole assembly responded,“ Amen,” and they praised the Lord. And the people did as they had promised.

Forgive your people who have sinned against you. Forgive all the offenses they have committed against you. Make their captors merciful to them,

then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and return them to this land you gave their ancestors.

“ If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
