He grabbed him and began to choke him.‘ Pay back what you owe me!’ he demanded.“ His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him,‘ Be patient with me, and I will pay it back.’“ But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt.When the other servants saw what had happened, they were outraged and went and told their master everything that had happened.“ Then the master called the servant in.‘ You wicked servant,’ he said,‘ I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to.Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.“ This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.”

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet.You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet.Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven— as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”Then Jesus said to her,“ Your sins are forgiven.”

Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.”

“ Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.

“ We will give it back,” they said.“ And we will not demand anything more from them. We will do as you say.” Then I summoned the priests and made the nobles and officials take an oath to do what they had promised.I also shook out the folds of my robe and said,“ In this way may God shake out of their house and possessions anyone who does not keep this promise. So may such a person be shaken out and emptied!” At this the whole assembly said,“ Amen,” and praised the Lord. And the people did as they had promised.

And forgive your people, who have sinned against you; forgive all the offenses they have committed against you, and cause their captors to show them mercy;

then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them back to the land you gave to their ancestors.

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
