爾其慎旃。施濟行善、不可徇人耳目；不然、不能望報於爾在天之父矣。

“ Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

For you build the tombs of the prophets, and decorate the tombs of the righteous,and say,‘ If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we wouldn’t have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.’

As many as desire to make a good impression in the flesh compel you to be circumcised; just so they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.

so that your merciful deeds may be in secret, then your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.“ When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Most certainly, I tell you, they have received their reward.But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

They come to you as the people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear your words, but don’t do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their gain.

He said to them,“ You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and you don’t seek the glory that comes from the only God?

“ Moreover when you fast, don’t be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward.

As it is written,“ He has scattered abroad. He has given to the poor. His righteousness remains forever.”Now may he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness,

Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and as a pretense you make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.

For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?

“ Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying,‘ When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month for these seventy years, did you at all fast to me, really to me?

Therefore see whether the light that is in you isn’t darkness.

For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward. But if not of my own will, I have a stewardship entrusted to me.What then is my reward? That when I preach the Good News, I may present the Good News of Christ without charge, so as not to abuse my authority in the Good News.

He has dispersed, he has given to the poor. His righteousness endures forever. His horn will be exalted with honor.

For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will render to everyone according to his deeds.

Pray like this:‘ Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.

“ The King will answer them,‘ Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward. He who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward.Whoever gives one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, most certainly I tell you he will in no way lose his reward.”

But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of Yahweh, the God of Israel, with all his heart. He didn’t depart from the sins of Jeroboam, with which he made Israel to sin.

considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he looked to the reward.

Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps there may be a lengthening of your tranquility.”

Therefore we ought to pay greater attention to the things that were heard, lest perhaps we drift away.

It will happen in that day, that the prophets will each be ashamed of his vision, when he prophesies; neither will they wear a hairy mantle to deceive:

He said,“ Come with me, and see my zeal for Yahweh.” So they made him ride in his chariot.
