“ Be careful not to display your righteousness merely to be seen by people. Otherwise you have no reward with your Father in heaven.

爾其慎旃。施濟行善、不可徇人耳目；不然、不能望報於爾在天之父矣。

“ Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

“ Be careful not to do good deeds in front of other people. Don’t do those deeds to be seen by others. If you do, your Father in heaven will not reward you.

“ Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.

“ Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven.

Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: else ye have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

They do all their deeds to be seen by people, for they make their phylacteries wide and their tassels long.

For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love you have demonstrated for his name, in having served and continuing to serve the saints.

For they loved praise from men more than praise from God.

In the same way, on the outside you look righteous to people, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.“ Woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous.And you say,‘ If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have participated with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’

Those who want to make a good showing in external matters are trying to force you to be circumcised. They do so only to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ.

so that your gift may be in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.“ Whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray while standing in synagogues and on street corners so that people can see them. Truly I say to you, they have their reward.But whenever you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

They come to you in crowds, and they sit in front of you as my people. They hear your words, but do not obey them. For they talk lustfully, and their heart is set on their own advantage.

But Jesus said to them,“ You are the ones who justify yourselves in men’s eyes, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly prized among men is utterly detestable in God’s sight.

And Jesus ordered them,“ Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod!”

“ Watch out,” Jesus said to them,“ beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

How can you believe, if you accept praise from one another and don’t seek the praise that comes from the only God?

“ When you fast, do not look sullen like the hypocrites, for they make their faces unattractive so that people will see them fasting. I tell you the truth, they have their reward.

Meanwhile, when many thousands of the crowd had gathered so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples,“ Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

Then he said to them,“ Watch out and guard yourself from all types of greed, because one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

So then, be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

You must by all means return to him at sunset the item he gave you as security so that he may sleep in his outer garment and bless you for it; it will be considered a just deed by the LORD your God.

Just as it is written,“ He has scattered widely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness remains forever.”Now God who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will provide and multiply your supply of seed and will cause the harvest of your righteousness to grow.

In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven.

“ But woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You keep locking people out of the kingdom of heaven! For you neither enter nor permit those trying to enter to go in.

For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Even the tax collectors do the same, don’t they?

“ Speak to all the people and priests of the land as follows:‘ When you fasted and lamented in the fifth and seventh months through all these seventy years, did you truly fast for me– for me, indeed?

Therefore see to it that the light in you is not darkness.

For if I do this voluntarily, I have a reward. But if I do it unwillingly, I am entrusted with a responsibility.What then is my reward? That when I preach the gospel I may offer the gospel free of charge, and so not make full use of my rights in the gospel.

He generously gives to the needy; his integrity endures. He will be vindicated and honored.

For the Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done.

So pray this way: Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored,

And the king will answer them,‘ I tell you the truth, just as you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of mine, you did it for me.’

Whoever receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward. Whoever receives a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple, I tell you the truth, he will never lose his reward.”

But Jehu did not carefully and wholeheartedly obey the law of the LORD God of Israel. He did not repudiate the sins which Jeroboam had encouraged Israel to commit.

He regarded abuse suffered for Christ to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for his eyes were fixed on the reward.

Therefore, O king, may my advice be pleasing to you. Break away from your sins by doing what is right, and from your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps your prosperity will be prolonged.”

Therefore we must pay closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

“ Therefore, on that day each prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies and will no longer wear the hairy garment of a prophet to deceive the people.

Jehu said,“ Come with me and see how zealous I am for the LORD’s cause.” So he took him along in his chariot.
