“ Take care not to practice your righteousness in the sight of people, to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

爾其慎旃。施濟行善、不可徇人耳目；不然、不能望報於爾在天之父矣。

And they do all their deeds to be noticed by other people; for they broaden their phylacteries and lengthen the tassels of their garments.

For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, by having served and by still serving the saints.

for they loved the approval of people rather than the approval of God.

So you too, outwardly appear righteous to people, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs for the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous,and you say,‘ If we had been living in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’

All who want to make a good showing in the flesh try to compel you to be circumcised, simply so that they will not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.

so that your charitable giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.“ And when you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they will be seen by people. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.But as for you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

And they come to you as people come, and sit before you as My people and hear your words, but they do not do them; for they do the lustful desires expressed by their mouth, and their heart follows their unlawful gain.

And He said to them,“ You are the ones who justify yourselves in the sight of people, but God knows your hearts; because that which is highly esteemed among people is detestable in the sight of God.

And He was giving orders to them, saying,“ Watch out! Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and the leaven of Herod.”

And Jesus said to them,“ Watch out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

How can you believe, when you accept glory from one another and you do not seek the glory that is from the one and only God?

“ Now whenever you fast, do not make a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they distort their faces so that they will be noticed by people when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

as it is written:“ He scattered abroad, he gave to the poor, His righteousness endures forever.”Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness;

Your light must shine before people in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

“ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you shut the kingdom of heaven in front of people; for you do not enter it yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Even the tax collectors, do they not do the same?

“ Say to all the people of the land and to the priests,‘ When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months these seventy years, was it actually for Me that you fasted?

So watch out that the light in you is not darkness.

For if I do this voluntarily, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a commission nonetheless.What, then, is my reward? That, when I preach the gospel, I may offer the gospel without charge, so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel.

He has given freely to the poor, His righteousness endures forever; His horn will be exalted in honor.

For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay every person according to his deeds.

“ Pray, then, in this way:‘ Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

And the King will answer and say to them,‘ Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of Mine, you did it for Me.’

The one who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and the one who receives a righteous person in the name of a righteous person shall receive a righteous person’s reward.And whoever gives one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.”
