but I say unto you, Love your enemies, and pray for them that persecute you;

惟我語爾、敵爾者愛之、詛爾者祝之、憾爾者善待之、毀謗爾、窘逐爾者、為之祈禱、

惟吾語爾、愛爾仇讐、為辱爾者禱、

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but contrariwise blessing; for hereunto were ye called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

And Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And parting his garments among them, they cast lots.

And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? even sinners lend to sinners, to receive again as much.But love your enemies, and do them good, and lend, never despairing; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of the Most High: for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil.

and we toil, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure;being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things, even until now.

Love suffereth long, and is kind; love envieth not; love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not its own, is not provoked, taketh not account of evil;rejoiceth not in unrighteousness, but rejoiceth with the truth;beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.Love never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall be done away; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall be done away.

If thou meet thine enemy’s ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again.If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, thou shalt forbear to leave him, thou shalt surely release it with him.

And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.

But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I afflicted my soul with fasting; And my prayer returned into mine own bosom.I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother: I bowed down mourning, as one that bewaileth his mother.

If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me( Yea, I have delivered him that without cause was mine adversary;)

But a prophet of Jehovah was there, whose name was Oded: and he went out to meet the host that came to Samaria, and said unto them, Behold, because Jehovah, the God of your fathers, was wroth with Judah, he hath delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a rage which hath reached up unto heaven.And now ye purpose to keep under the children of Judah and Jerusalem for bondmen and bondwomen unto you: but are there not even with you trespasses of your own against Jehovah your God?Now hear me therefore, and send back the captives, that ye have taken captive of your brethren; for the fierce wrath of Jehovah is upon you.Then certain of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against them that came from the war,and said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the captives hither: for ye purpose that which will bring upon us a trespass against Jehovah, to add unto our sins and to our trespass; for our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princes and all the assembly.And the men that have been mentioned by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm- trees, unto their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.
