But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

But here is what I tell you. Do not even look at a woman in the wrong way. Anyone who does has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

For all that is in the world— the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life— is not from the Father but is from the world.

But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

“ I have made a covenant with my eyes; how then could I gaze at a virgin?

“ You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.”

It happened, late one afternoon, when David arose from his couch and was walking on the roof of the king’s house, that he saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful.

And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the land, saw her, he seized her and lay with her and humiliated her.

They have eyes full of adultery, insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children!

What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said,“ You shall not covet.”But sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. For apart from the law, sin lies dead.

“ If my heart has been enticed toward a woman, and I have lain in wait at my neighbor’s door,

For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin.

I have seen a limit to all perfection, but your commandment is exceedingly broad.

But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says,‘ You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.

And after a time his master’s wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said,“ Lie with me.”But he refused and said to his master’s wife,“ Behold, because of me my master has no concern about anything in the house, and he has put everything that he has in my charge.He is not greater in this house than I am, nor has he kept back anything from me except you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?”And as she spoke to Joseph day after day, he would not listen to her, to lie beside her or to be with her.But one day, when he went into the house to do his work and none of the men of the house was there in the house,she caught him by his garment, saying,“ Lie with me.” But he left his garment in her hand and fled and got out of the house.And as soon as she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and had fled out of the house,she called to the men of her household and said to them,“ See, he has brought among us a Hebrew to laugh at us. He came in to me to lie with me, and I cried out with a loud voice.And as soon as he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried out, he left his garment beside me and fled and got out of the house.”Then she laid up his garment by her until his master came home,and she told him the same story, saying,“ The Hebrew servant, whom you have brought among us, came in to me to laugh at me.But as soon as I lifted up my voice and cried, he left his garment beside me and fled out of the house.”As soon as his master heard the words that his wife spoke to him,“ This is the way your servant treated me,” his anger was kindled.And Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined, and he was there in prison.But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.And the keeper of the prison put Joseph in charge of all the prisoners who were in the prison. Whatever was done there, he was the one who did it.The keeper of the prison paid no attention to anything that was in Joseph’s charge, because the Lord was with him. And whatever he did, the Lord made it succeed.

But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.

And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching,for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.
