欲留禮物於壇上、而記兄弟與爾有憾、

是以爾若獻禮物於祭臺、在彼爾憶獲罪爾兄弟、

倘爾詣壇前獻禮、而忽憶有負兄弟者、

Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,

If therefore thou art offering thy gift at the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee,

So if you are offering your gift on the altar, and there you remember that your brother has something against you,

Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

So then, if you bring your gift to the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,

“ If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,

And when you stand praying, forgive anyone you have anything against. Then your Father in heaven will forgive your sins.”

“ Suppose someone sins by not being faithful to me. They do it by tricking their neighbors. They trick them in connection with something their neighbors have placed in their care. They steal from their neighbors. Or they cheat them.Or they find something their neighbors have lost and then tell a lie about it. Or they go to court. They promise to tell the truth. But instead they tell a lie when they are a witness about it. Or they lie when they are witnesses about any other sin like those sins.When they sin in any of these ways and realize their guilt, they must return what they stole. They must give back what they took by cheating their neighbors. They must return what their neighbors placed in their care. They must return the lost property they found.They must return anything they told a lie about when they were witnesses in court. They must pay back everything in full. They must add a fifth of its value to it. They must give all of it to the owner on the day they bring their guilt offering.He must bring their guilt offering to the priest to pay for their sin. It is an offering to me. They must bring a ram from the flock. It must not have any flaws. It must be worth the required amount of money.

But Samuel replied,“ What pleases the Lord more? Burnt offerings and sacrifices, or obeying the Lord? It is better to obey than to offer a sacrifice. It is better to do what he says than to offer the fat of rams.

You are blind! Which is more important? Is it the gift? Or is it the altar that makes the gift holy?

Then Jesus said to him,“ Don’t tell anyone. Go and show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift Moses commanded. It will be a witness to everyone.”

But Zacchaeus stood up. He said,“ Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of what I own to those who are poor. And if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay it back. I will pay back four times the amount I took.”

Leave your gift in front of the altar. First go and make peace with them. Then come back and offer your gift.

I remember it very well. My spirit is very sad deep down inside me.

Now that their father was dead, Joseph’s brothers were worried. They said,“ Remember all the bad things we did to Joseph? What if he decides to hold those things against us? What if he pays us back for them?”So they sent a message to Joseph. They said,“ Your father gave us directions before he died.He said,‘ Here’s what you must say to Joseph. Tell him,“ I’m asking you to forgive your brothers. Forgive the terrible things they did to you. Forgive them for treating you so badly.” ’ Now then, please forgive our sins. We serve the God of your father.” When their message came to Joseph, he wept.

I will pay for all the sins you have committed. Then you will remember what you have done. You will be ashamed of it. Because of your shame, you will never speak against me again,” announces the Lord and King.

Rulers of Sodom, hear the Lord’ s message. People of Gomorrah, listen to the instruction of our God.“ Do you think I need any more of your sacrifices?” asks the Lord.“ I have more than enough of your burnt offerings. I have more than enough of rams and the fat of your fattest animals. I do not find any pleasure in the blood of your bulls, lambs and goats.Who asked you to bring all these animals when you come to worship me? Who asked you and your animals to walk all over my courtyards?Stop bringing offerings that do not mean anything to me! I hate your incense. I can’t stand your worthless gatherings. I can’t stand the way you celebrate your New Moon feasts, Sabbath days and special services.Your New Moon feasts and your other appointed feasts I hate with my whole being. They have become a heavy load to me. I am tired of carrying it.You might spread out your hands toward me when you pray. But I do not look at you. You might even offer many prayers. But I am not listening to them. Your hands are covered with the blood of the people you have murdered.So wash and make yourselves clean. Get your evil actions out of my sight! Stop doing what is wrong!Learn to do what is right! Treat people fairly. Help those who are treated badly. Stand up in court for children whose fathers have died. And do the same thing for widows.

I want mercy and not sacrifice. I want you to recognize me as God instead of bringing me burnt offerings.

They said to one another,“ God is surely punishing us because of our brother. We saw how upset he was when he begged us to let him live. But we wouldn’t listen. That’s why all this trouble has come to us.”Reuben replied,“ Didn’t I tell you not to sin against the boy? But you wouldn’t listen! Now we’re being paid back for killing him.”

The Lord says,“ I hate your holy feasts. I can’t stand them. Your gatherings stink.You bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings. But I will not accept them. You bring your best friendship offerings. But I will not even look at them.Take the noise of your songs away! I will not listen to the music of your harps.I want you to treat others fairly. So let fair treatment roll on just as a river does! Always do what is right. Let right living flow along like a stream that never runs dry!

The king continued,“ You know all the wrong things you did to my father David. In your heart you know them. Now the Lord will pay you back for what you did.

Then the chief wine taster spoke up. He said to Pharaoh,“ Now I remember that I’ve done something wrong.

All your men must appear in front of the Lord your God at the holy tent. They must go to the place he will choose. They must do it three times a year. They must go there to celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks and the Feast of Booths. None of your men should appear in front of the Lord without bringing something with him.Each of you must bring a gift. Give to the Lord your God, just as he has given to you.
