Then Philip began with that same part of Scripture. He told him the good news about Jesus.

So the words spoken by the prophet came true. He had said,“ I will open my mouth and tell stories. I will speak about things that were hidden since the world was made.”( Psalm 78:2)

Then Peter began to speak.“ I now realize how true it is that God treats everyone the same,” he said.

Paul was about to give reasons for his actions. But just then Gallio spoke to them. He said,“ You Jews don’t claim that Paul has committed a great or small crime. If you did, it would make sense for me to listen to you.

Pray also for me. Pray that whenever I speak, the right words will be given to me. Then I can be bold as I tell the mystery of the good news.

Jesus looked at his disciples. He said to them,“ Blessed are you who are needy. God’s kingdom belongs to you.Blessed are you who are hungry now. You will be satisfied. Blessed are you who are sad now. You will laugh.Blessed are you when people hate you, when they have nothing to do with you and say bad things about you, and when they treat your name as something evil. They do all this because you are followers of the Son of Man.“ The prophets of long ago were treated the same way. When these things happen to you, be glad and jump for joy. You will receive many blessings in heaven.“ But how terrible it will be for you who are rich! You have already had your easy life.How terrible for you who are well fed now! You will go hungry. How terrible for you who laugh now! You will cry and be sad.How terrible for you when everyone says good things about you! Their people treated the false prophets the same way long ago.

My people, listen to my teaching. Pay attention to what I say.I will open my mouth and tell a story. I will speak about things that were hidden. They happened a long time ago.

Listen! I have things to say that you can depend on. I open my lips to speak what is right.

Speak up for those who can’t speak for themselves. Speak up for the rights of all those who are poor.Speak up and judge fairly. Speak up for the rights of those who are poor and needy.

After a while, Job opened his mouth to speak. He cursed the day he had been born.
