For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.Carefully determine what pleases the Lord.Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret.But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them,for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said,“ Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said,“ I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night.

The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.

Put your trust in the light while there is still time; then you will become children of the light.” After saying these things, Jesus went away and was hidden from them.

You are convinced that you are a guide for the blind and a light for people who are lost in darkness.You think you can instruct the ignorant and teach children the ways of God. For you are certain that God’s law gives you complete knowledge and truth.

Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?

John was like a burning and shining lamp, and you were excited for a while about his message.

And the main street was pure gold, as clear as glass.I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light.The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the world will enter the city in all their glory.Its gates will never be closed at the end of day because there is no night there.And all the nations will bring their glory and honor into the city.Nothing evil will be allowed to enter, nor anyone who practices shameful idolatry and dishonesty— but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Then they said,“ Come, let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into the sky. This will make us famous and keep us from being scattered all over the world.”But the Lord came down to look at the city and the tower the people were building.“ Look!” he said.“ The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them!Come, let’s go down and confuse the people with different languages. Then they won’t be able to understand each other.”In that way, the Lord scattered them all over the world, and they stopped building the city.
