因著信，摩西長大了以後，就拒絕被稱為法老女兒的兒子。他寧願選擇和神的子民一同受苦，也不肯享受罪惡中暫時的快樂。在他看來，為著基督受的凌辱，比埃及的財物更寶貴，因為他注視將來的賞賜。

他說：“這大巴比倫城不是我用大能大力建造作我的京都，為顯我威嚴的榮耀嗎？”

魔鬼引他上到高處，霎時間把天下萬國指給他看，對他說：“這一切權柄、榮華，我都可以給你；因為這些都交給了我，我願意給誰就給誰。所以，只要你在我面前拜一拜，這一切就全是你的了。”

因為“所有的人（“人”原文作“肉體”），盡都如草，他們的榮美，都像草上的花；草必枯乾，花必凋謝，
