The tempter came and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

試者就之曰、爾若天主之子、可令此石變餅、

誘者乃進而謂之曰：『爾苟為天主子、盍命斯石變餅。』

The tempter came to him and said,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

The tempter came to him. He said,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

And the tempter came and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.”

During that time the devil came and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.”

Then the tempter approached him and said,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

And the tempter came and said to Him,“ If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

Now when the tempter came to Him, he said,“ If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

And the tempter came and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.

Then the tempter approached Him and said,“ If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

The mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly; and the children of Israel also wept again, and said,“ Who will give us meat to eat?We remember the fish, which we ate in Egypt for nothing; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic;but now we have lost our appetite. There is nothing at all except this manna to look at.”

For this cause I also, when I couldn’t stand it any longer, sent that I might know your faith, for fear that by any means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor would have been in vain.

Now the serpent was more subtle than any animal of the field which Yahweh God had made. He said to the woman,“ Has God really said,‘ You shall not eat of any tree of the garden’?”The woman said to the serpent,“ We may eat fruit from the trees of the garden,but not the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden. God has said,‘ You shall not eat of it. You shall not touch it, lest you die.’”The serpent said to the woman,“ You won’t really die,for God knows that in the day you eat it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Satan answered Yahweh, and said,“ Skin for skin. Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.But stretch out your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will renounce you to your face.”Yahweh said to Satan,“ Behold, he is in your hand. Only spare his life.”So Satan went out from the presence of Yahweh, and struck Job with painful sores from the sole of his foot to his head.

The Lord said,“ Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have all of you, that he might sift you as wheat,but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn’t fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers.”

Don’t be afraid of the things which you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested; and you will have oppression for ten days. Be faithful to death, and I will give you the crown of life.

The great dragon was thrown down, the old serpent, he who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying,“ Now the salvation, the power, and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ has come; for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night.They overcame him because of the Lamb’s blood, and because of the word of their testimony. They didn’t love their life, even to death.

Yet they still went on to sin against him, to rebel against the Most High in the desert.They tempted God in their heart by asking food according to their desire.Yes, they spoke against God. They said,“ Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?Behold, he struck the rock, so that waters gushed out, and streams overflowed. Can he give bread also? Will he provide meat for his people?”

Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said,“ Does Job fear God for nothing?Haven’t you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.But stretch out your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will renounce you to your face.”Yahweh said to Satan,“ Behold, all that he has is in your power. Only on himself don’t stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of Yahweh.

and the children of Israel said to them,“ We wish that we had died by Yahweh’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots, when we ate our fill of bread, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

Jacob boiled stew. Esau came in from the field, and he was famished.Esau said to Jacob,“ Please feed me with some of that red stew, for I am famished.” Therefore his name was called Edom.Jacob said,“ First, sell me your birthright.”Esau said,“ Behold, I am about to die. What good is the birthright to me?”Jacob said,“ Swear to me first.” He swore to him. He sold his birthright to Jacob.Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew. He ate and drank, rose up, and went his way. So Esau despised his birthright.

Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying,“ You are truly the Son of God!”

lest there be any sexually immoral person, or profane person, like Esau, who sold his birthright for one meal.

He led him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down from here,

Immediately in the synagogues he proclaimed the Christ, that he is the Son of God.

Behold, a voice out of the heavens said,“ This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

The devil said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”
