誘者乃進而謂之曰：『爾苟為天主子、盍命斯石變餅。』

The tempter came to him and said,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

The tempter came to him. He said,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

And the tempter came and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.”

During that time the devil came and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.”

Then the tempter approached him and said,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

And the tempter came and said to Him,“ If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

Now when the tempter came to Him, he said,“ If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

And the tempter came and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.

Then the tempter approached Him and said,“ If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

The tempter came and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

Now the mixed multitude who were among them craved more desirable foods, and so the Israelites wept again and said,“ If only we had meat to eat!We remember the fish we used to eat freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic.But now we are dried up, and there is nothing at all before us except this manna!”

So when I could bear it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith, for fear that the tempter somehow tempted you and our toil had proven useless.

Now the serpent was more shrewd than any of the wild animals that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman,“ Is it really true that God said,‘ You must not eat from any tree of the orchard’?”The woman said to the serpent,“ We may eat of the fruit from the trees of the orchard;but concerning the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the orchard God said,‘ You must not eat from it, and you must not touch it, or else you will die.’”The serpent said to the woman,“ Surely you will not die,for God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will open and you will be like divine beings who know good and evil.”

But Satan answered the LORD,“ Skin for skin! Indeed, a man will give up all that he has to save his life!But extend your hand and strike his bone and his flesh, and he will no doubt curse you to your face!”So the LORD said to Satan,“ All right, he is in your power; only preserve his life.”So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD, and he afflicted Job with a malignant ulcer from the sole of his feet to the top of his head.

“ Simon, Simon, pay attention! Satan has demanded to have you all, to sift you like wheat,but I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. When you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

Do not be afraid of the things you are about to suffer. The devil is about to have some of you thrown into prison so you may be tested, and you will experience suffering for ten days. Remain faithful even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown that is life itself.

So that huge dragon– the ancient serpent, the one called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world– was thrown down to the earth, and his angels along with him.Then I heard a loud voice in heaven saying,“ The salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the ruling authority of his Christ, have now come, because the accuser of our brothers and sisters, the one who accuses them day and night before our God, has been thrown down.But they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.

Yet they continued to sin against him, and rebelled against the sovereign One in the desert.They willfully challenged God by asking for food to satisfy their appetite.They insulted God, saying,“ Is God really able to give us food in the wilderness?Yes, he struck a rock and water flowed out, streams gushed forth. But can he also give us food? Will he provide meat for his people?”

Then Satan answered the LORD,“ Is it for nothing that Job fears God?Have you not made a hedge around him and his household and all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his livestock have increased in the land.But extend your hand and strike everything he has, and he will no doubt curse you to your face!”So the LORD said to Satan,“ All right then, everything he has is in your power. Only do not extend your hand against the man himself!” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

The Israelites said to them,“ If only we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full, for you have brought us out into this desert to kill this whole assembly with hunger!”

Now Jacob cooked some stew, and when Esau came in from the open fields, he was famished.So Esau said to Jacob,“ Feed me some of the red stuff– yes, this red stuff– because I’m starving!”( That is why he was also called Edom.)But Jacob replied,“ First sell me your birthright.”“ Look,” said Esau,“ I’m about to die! What use is the birthright to me?”But Jacob said,“ Swear an oath to me now.” So Esau swore an oath to him and sold his birthright to Jacob.Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and lentil stew; Esau ate and drank, then got up and went out. So Esau despised his birthright.

Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying,“ Truly you are the Son of God.”

And see to it that no one becomes an immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal.

Then the devil brought him to Jerusalem, had him stand on the highest point of the temple, and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here,

and immediately he began to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues, saying,“ This man is the Son of God.”

And a voice from heaven said,“ This is my one dear Son; in him I take great delight.”

The devil said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”
