誘者乃進而謂之曰：『爾苟為天主子、盍命斯石變餅。』

The tempter came to him and said,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

The tempter came to him. He said,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

And the tempter came and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.”

During that time the devil came and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.”

Then the tempter approached him and said,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

Now when the tempter came to Him, he said,“ If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

And the tempter came and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.

Then the tempter approached Him and said,“ If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Now the rabble who were among them had greedy cravings; and the sons of Israel also wept again and said,“ Who will give us meat to eat?We remember the fish which we used to eat for free in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic;but now our appetite is gone. There is nothing at all to look at except this manna!”

For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I also sent to find out about your faith, for fear that the tempter might have tempted you, and our labor would be for nothing.

Now the serpent was more cunning than any animal of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman,“ Has God really said,‘ You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?”The woman said to the serpent,“ From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said,‘ You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’ ”The serpent said to the woman,“ You certainly will not die!For God knows that on the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will become like God, knowing good and evil.”

Satan answered the Lord and said,“ Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has, he will give for his life.However, reach out with Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh; he will curse You to Your face!”So the Lord said to Satan,“ Behold, he is in your power, only spare his life.”Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and struck Job with severe boils from the sole of his foot to the top of his head.

“ Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded to sift you men like wheat;but I have prayed for you, that your faith will not fail; and you, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying,“ Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down, the one who accuses them before our God day and night.And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.

Yet they still continued to sin against Him, To rebel against the Most High in the desert.And in their heart they put God to the test By asking for food that suited their taste.Then they spoke against God; They said,“ Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?Behold, He struck the rock so that waters gushed out, And streams were overflowing; Can He also provide bread? Will He prepare meat for His people?”

Then Satan answered the Lord,“ Does Job fear God for nothing?Have You not made a fence around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.But reach out with Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will certainly curse You to Your face.”Then the Lord said to Satan,“ Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not reach out and put your hand on him.” So Satan departed from the presence of the Lord.

The sons of Israel said to them,“ If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread until we were full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this entire assembly with hunger!”

When Jacob had cooked a stew one day, Esau came in from the field and he was exhausted;and Esau said to Jacob,“ Please let me have a mouthful of that red stuff there, for I am exhausted.” Therefore he was called Edom by name.But Jacob said,“ First sell me your birthright.”Esau said,“ Look, I am about to die; so of what use then is the birthright to me?”And Jacob said,“ First swear to me”; so he swore an oath to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew; and he ate and drank, and got up and went on his way. So Esau despised his birthright.

And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying,“ You are truly God’s Son!”

that there be no sexually immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal.

And he brought Him into Jerusalem and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him,“ If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here;

and immediately he began to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues, saying,“ He is the Son of God.”

and behold, a voice from the heavens said,“ This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

And the devil said to Him,“ If You are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”
