For it is written,‘ You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’”He led him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down from here,for it is written,‘ He will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you;’and,‘ On their hands they will bear you up, lest perhaps you dash your foot against a stone.’”Jesus answering, said to him,“ It has been said,‘ You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”When the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him until another time.

Immediately the Spirit drove him out into the wilderness.He was there in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals; and the angels were serving him.Now after John was taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the Good News of God’s Kingdom,and saying,“ The time is fulfilled, and God’s Kingdom is at hand! Repent, and believe in the Good News.”

For we don’t have a high priest who can’t be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need.

I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world comes, and he has nothing in me.
