and do not assume that you can say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father’; for I tell you that God is able, from these stones, to raise up children for Abraham.

勿自謂、我有亞伯拉罕為父也、我語汝、上帝能由此石興起亞伯拉罕之子孫焉、

勿自以為亞伯拉罕吾祖也、吾語爾、上帝能使此石為亞伯拉罕子孫焉、

毋心中自矜曰、亞伯拉罕吾祖也、吾語爾、天主能使此石為亞伯拉罕之子孫焉、

毋思吾輩有亞伯漢為我祖先；蓋吾語爾、天主全能、即欲化此頑石為亞伯漢之子孫、亦易如反掌耳。

And do not think you can say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.

Don’t think you can say to yourselves,‘ Abraham is our father.’ I tell you, God can raise up children for Abraham even from these stones.

And do not presume to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.

Don’t just say to each other,‘ We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones.

And don’t presume to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones.

and do not think to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

and think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

And don’t presume to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones!

And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to[ our] father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

and don’t think you can say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that God can raise up children for Abraham from these stones!

Don’t think to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham for our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

Therefore produce fruits that are consistent with repentance, and do not start saying to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father,’ for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children for Abraham.

For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.

nor are they all children because they are Abraham’s descendants, but:“ through Isaac your descendants shall be named.”That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants.

They answered Him,“ We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say,‘ You will become free’?”

“ Brothers, sons of Abraham’s family, and those among you who fear God, to us the message of this salvation has been sent.

What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found?

For from within, out of the hearts of people, come the evil thoughts, acts of sexual immorality, thefts, murders, acts of adultery,

And he cried out and said,‘ Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus, so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’

For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and one by the free woman.But the son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, and the son by the free woman through the promise.This is speaking allegorically, for these women are two covenants: one coming from Mount Sinai giving birth to children who are to be slaves; she is Hagar.Now this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is enslaved with her children.But the Jerusalem above is free; she is our mother.For it is written:“ Rejoice, infertile one, you who do not give birth; Break forth and shout, you who are not in labor; For the children of the desolate one are more numerous Than those of the one who has a husband.”And you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise.But as at that time the son who was born according to the flesh persecuted the one who was born according to the Spirit, so it is even now.But what does the Scripture say?“ Drive out the slave woman and her son, For the son of the slave woman shall not be an heir with the son of the free woman.”So then, brothers and sisters, we are not children of a slave woman, but of the free woman.

You are not greater than our father Abraham, who died, are You? The prophets died too. Whom do You make Yourself out to be?”

They answered and said to Him,“ Abraham is our father.” Jesus* said to them,“ If you are Abraham’s children, do the deeds of Abraham.But as it is, you are seeking to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God; this Abraham did not do.

“ Son of man, they who live in these ruins in the land of Israel are saying,‘ Abraham was only one, yet he possessed the land; so to us who are many the land has been given as a possession.’

But Jesus, aware of their thoughts, responded and said to them,“ Why are you thinking this way in your hearts?

And he began thinking to himself, saying,‘ What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’

Simeon has described how God first concerned Himself about taking a people for His name from among the Gentiles.

but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong,and the insignificant things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are,

Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he said to himself,“ If this man were a prophet He would know who and what sort of person this woman is who is touching Him, that she is a sinner!”

and he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while uncircumcised, so that he might be the father of all who believe without being circumcised, that righteousness might be credited to them,and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also follow in the steps of the faith of our father Abraham which he had while uncircumcised.For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith.For if those who are of the Law are heirs, then faith is made void and the promise is nullified;for the Law brings about wrath, but where there is no law, there also is no violation.For this reason it is by faith, in order that it may be in accordance with grace, so that the promise will be guaranteed to all the descendants, not only to those who are of the Law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,( as it is written:“ I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed, that is, God, who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that do not exist.

Jesus replied,“ I tell you, if these stop speaking, the stones will cry out!”

And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven;but the sons of the kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the people of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.But now in Christ Jesus you who previously were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
