But John tried to prevent Him, saying,“ I have the need to be baptized by You, and yet You are coming to me?”

如望辭曰：『吾當受爾之洗、安可就我乎？』

But John tried to deter him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”

But John tried to stop him. So he told Jesus,“ I need to be baptized by you. So why do you come to me?”

John would have prevented him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”

But John tried to talk him out of it.“ I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said,“ so why are you coming to me?”

But John tried to stop him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and yet you come to me?”

And John tried to prevent Him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?”

But John would have hindered him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

But John tried to prevent him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and yet you come to me?”

But John would have hindered him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?”

Jesus responded and said to him,“ Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”Nicodemus* said to Him,“ How can a person be born when he is old? He cannot enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born, can he?”Jesus answered,“ Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit.Do not be amazed that I said to you,‘ You must be born again.’

for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”So, when they had come together, they began asking Him, saying,“ Lord, is it at this time that You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?”But He said to them,“ It is not for you to know periods of time or appointed times which the Father has set by His own authority;but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and as far as the remotest part of the earth.”

So He* came to Simon Peter. He* said to Him,“ Lord, You are washing my feet?”Jesus answered and said to him,“ What I am doing, you do not realize right now, but you will understand later.”Peter* said to Him,“ Never shall You wash my feet!” Jesus answered him,“ If I do not wash you, you have no place with Me.”

whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in God’s merciful restraint He let the sins previously committed go unpunished;

For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.

For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.

Because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying out,“ Abba! Father!”

And how has it happened to me that the mother of my Lord would come to me?

Among them we too all previously lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the rest.But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,even when we were dead in our wrongdoings, made us alive together with Christ( by grace you have been saved),

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

But the Scripture has confined everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all the tribes, peoples, and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands;and they* cried out with a loud voice, saying,“ Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,saying,“ Amen, blessing, glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, honor, power, and might belong to our God forever and ever. Amen.”Then one of the elders responded, saying to me,“ These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and where have they come from?”I said to him,“ My lord, you know.” And he said to me,“ These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.For this reason they are before the throne of God, and they serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will spread His tabernacle over them.They will no longer hunger nor thirst, nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any scorching heat;for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their eyes.”
