But John tried to deter him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”

But John tried to stop him. So he told Jesus,“ I need to be baptized by you. So why do you come to me?”

John would have prevented him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”

But John tried to talk him out of it.“ I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said,“ so why are you coming to me?”

But John tried to prevent Him, saying,“ I have the need to be baptized by You, and yet You are coming to me?”

But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born anew.

For John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days hence.They therefore, when they were come together, asked him, saying, Lord, dost thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?And he said unto them, It is not for you to know times or seasons, which the Father hath set within his own authority.But ye shall receive power, when the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

So he cometh to Simon Peter. He saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt understand hereafter.Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

whom God set forth to be a propitiation, through faith, in his blood, to show his righteousness because of the passing over of the sins done aforetime, in the forbearance of God;

For as many of you as were baptized into Christ did put on Christ.There can be neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither bond nor free, there can be no male and female; for ye all are one man in Christ Jesus.And if ye are Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, heirs according to promise.

For of his fulness we all received, and grace for grace.

for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;

But the scripture shut up all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

After these things I saw, and behold, a great multitude, which no man could number, out of every nation and of all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, arrayed in white robes, and palms in their hands;and they cry with a great voice, saying, Salvation unto our God who sitteth on the throne, and unto the Lamb.And all the angels were standing round about the throne, and about the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honor, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, These that are arrayed in the white robes, who are they, and whence came they?And I say unto him, My lord, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they that come out of the great tribulation, and they washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.Therefore are they before the throne of God; and they serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall spread his tabernacle over them.They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun strike upon them, nor any heat:for the Lamb that is in the midst of the throne shall be their shepherd, and shall guide them unto fountains of waters of life: and God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes.
