『因為你看、萬軍之永恆主說：那日來到、燃燒着像火爐：一切傲慢的、一切行惡的、都必成了碎稭；那要來到的日子必將他們燒滅掉，不給留下根頭或枝條。

兩樣一齊長大，等到收割時；當收割的時機，我要對收割的說：「先將稗子薅出來，捆成捆，好燒掉；至於麥子，卻要收集在我倉裏。」』

我必打發簸穀的人到巴比倫去簸颺她，使她的地空空如也；因為在她遭禍的日子、他們必四圍攻擊她。

你必簸揚它們，風必帶走，旋風必颳散；但你卻要以永恆主為喜樂，以以色列之聖者為誇耀。

因此主永恆主這麼說：看吧，我的怒氣我的烈怒必倒在這地方、倒在人和牲口身上、倒在田野的樹木和地土的果實上；怒火必着起來，不能熄滅。』

惡人卻不是這樣：惡人乃像糠粃、給風吹散而飄蕩。

人子要差遣他的使者，把一切使人絆跌的事、以及行不法事的人、都從他國裏薅出來，

但他來的日子誰能當得起呢？他顯現時、誰能站立得住呢？『因為他像煉金之人的火，像漂布之人的鹼。他必坐着、作為熬煉銀子、使它潔淨者；他必使利未人潔淨，他必精煉他們像金子、像銀子，直到他們用對的供物獻與永恆主。

耕種土地的牛和驢駒必喫加鹽的料，就是用木杴和杈子揚淨的。

『他們必出去，看那些悖逆我者的屍身；因為他們的蟲子總不死，燒他們的火總不滅；他們必成了血肉之人所憎惡的。』

火舌怎樣吞滅碎稭，乾草怎樣銷沉於火燄中，他們的根也必怎樣像朽爛之物，他們的花必像飛塵上騰；因為他們棄絕了萬軍之永恆主的指教，藐視了以色列之聖者的訓言。

我在境內各城門口用簸箕簸了我的人民，使他們喪掉兒女，使他們滅亡，他們仍不轉離他們所行的路。

凡在我身上不結果子的枝子，他就除掉；凡結果子的，他就使它潔淨，叫它結果子更多。

願他們像風前的糠粃，有永恆主的使者在趕逐他們。

倘若你的一隻手使你絆跌，把它砍掉吧。你殘廢了進入生命，比有兩隻手而往地獄裏，入那不滅的火裏倒好呢。

外國之民怒號着，就像大水之怒號。但上帝叱責他們，他們就遠遠地逃跑，又被追趕、如同山上的風前糠，又如暴風前的滾轉草。

但你們若不聽從我，不以安息之日為聖日，仍在安息之日挑擔子，進耶路撒冷的城門，那麼我就必在它的城門中點起火來；這火必燒燬耶路撒冷的宮堡，總不熄滅。」』

因此他們必像早晨的雲霧，又如早散的朝露，好像糠粃從禾場上旋轉起，又像煙氣騰於格子窗外。

有權勢的必如麻絲屑，他所作的工好像火星；二者都必一概焚燬，沒有人能撲滅。

那時義人必在他們的父國裏射發光輝、如同太陽。有耳的應當聽。

那時必有話對這人民和耶路撒冷說：在曠野無草木的高處上有一陣熱風向我子民颳來，不是為了簸揚，也不是為了揚淨，

他們何嘗像風前的禾藁？像暴風颳去的糠粃呢？

對南地的森林說：你要聽永恆主的話：主永恆主這麼說：我必使火在你中間着起，將你中間一切多汁的樹和枯乾的樹都燒滅掉；炎熱的火燄必不熄滅；從南到北人的臉面都要被燒焦。血肉之人都要看而明白是我永恆主點起火來的；這火必不熄滅。』

因為你看，我必發出命令，將以色列家在列國中簸來簸去，像穀子在簸箕裏被簸動一樣，沒有一個子粒會落在地上。

惡人在今世之完結也必這樣。天使必出來，把惡人從義人中分別出來，丟在火爐裏；在那裏必有哀哭和切齒。』
