那日是逾越節的預備日，約在正午。彼拉多對猶太人說：「看哪，你們的王！」

到了晚上，因為這是預備日，就是安息日的前一日，

因為那天是猶太人的預備日，而那墳墓又在附近，他們就把耶穌安放在那裏。

列國為甚麼爭鬧？萬民為甚麼圖謀虛妄？世上的君王都站穩，臣宰一同算計，要對抗耶和華，對抗他的受膏者：「我們要掙脫他們的捆綁，脫去他們的繩索。」那坐在天上的必譏笑，主必嗤笑他們。那時，他要在怒中責備他們，在烈怒中驚嚇他們：「我已經在錫安－我的聖山膏立了我的君王。」

那日是預備日，安息日快到了。那些從加利利和耶穌同來的婦女跟在後面，看見了墳墓和他的身體怎樣安放。她們就回去，預備了香料香膏。在安息日，她們遵照誡命安息了。

除酵節的第一天，門徒來問耶穌：「你要我們在哪裏給你預備吃逾越節的宴席呢？」

希律和本丟‧彼拉多，同外邦人和以色列民，果然在這城裏聚集，要攻打你所膏的聖僕耶穌，做了你手和你旨意所預定必成就的事。

因為這日是預備日，又因為那安息日是個大日子，猶太人就來求彼拉多叫人打斷他們的腿，把他們搬走，免得屍首在安息日留在十字架上。

到了早晨，眾祭司長和百姓的長老商議要處死耶穌，就把他綁着，解去，交給彼拉多總督。
