It was a preparation day, and a Sabbath was about to begin.Now the women who had come with Him from Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how His body was laid.And then they returned and prepared spices and perfumes. And on the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus and asked,“ Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?”

For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel,to do whatever Your hand and purpose predestined to occur.

Now then, since it was the day of preparation, to prevent the bodies from remaining on the cross on the Sabbath( for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews requested of Pilate that their legs be broken, and the bodies be taken away.

Now when morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people conferred together against Jesus to put Him to death;and they bound Him and led Him away, and handed Him over to Pilate the governor.
