Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he began praising God, saying,“ This man was in fact innocent.”And all the crowds who came together for this spectacle, after watching what had happened, began to return home, beating their chests.And all His acquaintances and the women who accompanied Him from Galilee were standing at a distance, seeing these things.

He immediately took along some soldiers and centurions and ran down to the crowd; and when they saw the commander and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.

but the centurion, wanting to bring Paul safely through, kept them from accomplishing their intention, and commanded that those who could swim were to jump overboard first and get to land,

And when Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, begging Him,

And he called to him two of the centurions and said,“ Get two hundred soldiers ready by the third hour of the night to proceed to Caesarea, with seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen.”

So the king again sent the captain of a third fifty with his fifty men. When the third captain of fifty went up, he came and bowed down on his knees before Elijah, and begged him and said to him,“ You man of God, please let my life and the lives of these fifty servants of yours be precious in your sight.Behold, fire came down from heaven and consumed the first two captains of fifty with their fifties; but now let my life be precious in your sight.”

Now there was a man in Caesarea named Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian cohort,

And they all said,“ So You are the Son of God?” And He said to them,“ You say correctly that I am.”

Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,“ Brothers, what are we to do?”

And at that time there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell; seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

And the jailer asked for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear, he fell down before Paul and Silas;and after he brought them out, he said,“ Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

The Jews answered him,“ We have a law, and by that law He ought to die, because He made Himself out to be the Son of God!”
