然後坐在那裡看守他。

百夫長看見所發生的事，就頌讚神，說：“這真是個義人！”聚集觀看的群眾，看見所發生的事，都捶著胸回去了。與耶穌熟悉的人，和從加利利跟隨他來的婦女，都遠遠地站著，看這些事。

千夫長立刻帶著一些百夫長和士兵跑到他們那裡。眾人一看見千夫長和士兵，就停止毆打保羅。

但百夫長想要救保羅，就阻止他們這樣行。他吩咐會游泳的跳下水去，先到岸上，

耶穌到了迦百農，有一個百夫長前來懇求他，

千夫長叫了兩個百夫長來，說：“預備兩百個步兵，七十個騎兵、兩百個長槍手，晚上九點鐘往該撒利亞去。

他們決定要我們坐船往意大利去，就把保羅和別的囚犯，交給皇家軍營裡的一個百夫長，名叫猶流。

試探者前來對他說：“你若是神的兒子，就吩咐這些石頭變成食物吧！”

保羅請了一個百夫長來，說：“請你帶這個青年人去見千夫長，他有事要報告。”

“你這個想拆毀聖所，三日之內又把它建造起來的，救救自己吧！如果你是神的兒子，從十字架上下來吧！”

耶穌卻不作聲。大祭司又對他說：“我指著永生的神要你起誓，告訴我們你是不是基督、神的兒子。”

王又派出第三名五十夫長和他的五十名手下；那五十夫長來到，就雙膝跪在以利亞面前，懇求他，對他說：“神人哪！願我的性命和這五十個僕人的性命在你眼中看為寶貴。看哪！曾經有火從天降下，吞滅了先前兩個五十夫長和他們各五十名手下；現在，願我的性命在你眼中看為寶貴。”

在該撒利亞有一個人，名叫哥尼流，是意大利營的百夫長。

他們說：“那麼你是神的兒子嗎？”耶穌說：“你們說了，我是。”

他們聽了以後，覺得扎心，就對彼得和其餘的使徒說：“弟兄們，我們應當作甚麼呢？”

就在那時，大地震發生了，那座城倒塌了十分之一，因著地震而死的有七千人，其餘的人都很害怕，就把榮耀歸給天上的神。

獄吏叫人拿了燈來，就衝進去，戰戰兢兢地俯伏在保羅和西拉面前，隨後領他們出來，說：“先生，我應該作甚麼才可以得救？”

猶太人回答：“我們有律法，根據那律法，他是該死的，因為他自命為神的兒子。”

按聖潔的靈說，因為從死人中復活，顯明他是大有能力的、神的兒子（“顯明他是大有能力的、神的兒子”或譯：“以大能顯明他是神的兒子）。
