When some of those standing there heard this, they said,“ He’s calling Elijah.”

Some of those standing there heard Jesus cry out. They said,“ He’s calling for Elijah.”

And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said,“ This man is calling Elijah.”

Some of the bystanders misunderstood and thought he was calling for the prophet Elijah.

When some of those standing there heard this, they said,“ He’s calling for Elijah.”

And some of those who were standing there, when they heard it, said,“ This man is calling for Elijah.”

Some of those who stood there, when they heard that, said,“ This Man is calling for Elijah!”

And some of them that stood there, when they heard it, said, This man calleth Elijah.

When some of those standing there heard this, they said,“ He’s calling for Elijah!”

Some of them that stood there, when they heard[ that], said, This[ man] calleth for Elias.

When some of the bystanders heard it, they said,“ This man is calling for Elijah.”

Some of them who stood there, when they heard it, said,“ This man is calling Elijah.”

And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come.

“ See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes.

When some of those standing near heard this, they said,“ Listen, he’s calling Elijah.”Someone ran, filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink.“ Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to take him down,” he said.
