In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him.

Would it go well if he examined you? Could you deceive him as you would deceive a man?

Many bulls surround me; strong ones of Bashan encircle me.They open their mouths against me— lions, mauling and roaring.

This is what the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, says to one who is despised, to one abhorred by people, to a servant of rulers:“ Kings will see, princes will stand up, and they will all bow down because of the LORD, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel— and he has chosen you.”

For he will be handed over to the Gentiles, and he will be mocked, insulted, spit on;

So now, do not scoff, or your shackles will become stronger. Indeed, I have heard from the Lord GOD of Armies a decree of destruction for the whole land.

Let those who rejoice at my misfortune be disgraced and humiliated; let those who exalt themselves over me be clothed with shame and reproach.

In the same way, the chief priests with the scribes were mocking him among themselves and saying,“ He saved others, but he cannot save himself!Let the Messiah, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe.” Even those who were crucified with him taunted him.
