經過的人毁謗他，搖着頭；

那些路過的人辱罵耶穌，搖著頭，

過者誚之、搖首曰、

過者譏之、搖首曰、

過者搖首而誚之曰：

Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads

Those who passed by shouted at Jesus and made fun of him. They shook their heads

And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads

The people passing by shouted abuse, shaking their heads in mockery.

Those who passed by were yelling insults at him, shaking their heads

And those passing by were speaking abusively to Him, shaking their heads,

And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads,

Those who passed by were yelling insults at Him, shaking their heads

And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,

Those who passed by defamed him, shaking their heads

Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads,

I also have become a reproach to them; When they look at me, they shake their heads.

“ Is it nothing to you, all you who pass by? Behold and see If there is any sorrow like my sorrow, Which has been brought on me, Which the Lord has inflicted In the day of His fierce anger.

And the people stood looking on. But even the rulers with them sneered, saying,“ He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ, the chosen of God.”The soldiers also mocked Him, coming and offering Him sour wine,and saying,“ If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself.”And an inscription also was written over Him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying,“ If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.”

I also could speak as you do, If your soul were in my soul’s place. I could heap up words against you, And shake my head at you;

Reproach has broken my heart, And I am full of heaviness; I looked for someone to take pity, but there was none; And for comforters, but I found none.

All who pass by clap their hands at you; They hiss and shake their heads At the daughter of Jerusalem:“ Is this the city that is called‘ The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth’?”All your enemies have opened their mouth against you; They hiss and gnash their teeth. They say,“ We have swallowed her up! Surely this is the day we have waited for; We have found it, we have seen it!”The Lord has done what He purposed; He has fulfilled His word Which He commanded in days of old. He has thrown down and has not pitied, And He has caused an enemy to rejoice over you; He has exalted the horn of your adversaries.

But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised by the people.All those who see Me ridicule Me; They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

But in my adversity they rejoiced And gathered together; Attackers gathered against me, And I did not know it; They tore at me and did not cease;With ungodly mockers at feasts They gnashed at me with their teeth.Lord, how long will You look on? Rescue me from their destructions, My precious life from the lions.I will give You thanks in the great assembly; I will praise You among many people.Let them not rejoice over me who are wrongfully my enemies; Nor let them wink with the eye who hate me without a cause.For they do not speak peace, But they devise deceitful matters Against the quiet ones in the land.They also opened their mouth wide against me, And said,“ Aha, aha! Our eyes have seen it.”

For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful Have opened against me; They have spoken against me with a lying tongue.

“ Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”;who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness— by whose stripes you were healed.

Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; Shame has covered my face.I have become a stranger to my brothers, And an alien to my mother’s children;Because zeal for Your house has eaten me up, And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.When I wept and chastened my soul with fasting, That became my reproach.I also made sackcloth my garment; I became a byword to them.Those who sit in the gate speak against me, And I am the song of the drunkards.

And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying,“ Aha! You who destroy the temple and build it in three days,save Yourself, and come down from the cross!”

I can count all My bones. They look and stare at Me.

I am a reproach among all my enemies, But especially among my neighbors, And am repulsive to my acquaintances; Those who see me outside flee from me.I am forgotten like a dead man, out of mind; I am like a broken vessel.For I hear the slander of many; Fear is on every side; While they take counsel together against me, They scheme to take away my life.
