They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again.

They were sons of fools, Yes, sons of vile men; They were scourged from the land.“ And now I am their taunting song; Yes, I am their byword.They abhor me, they keep far from me; They do not hesitate to spit in my face.

Thus says the Lord, The Redeemer of Israel, their Holy One, To Him whom man despises, To Him whom the nation abhors, To the Servant of rulers:“ Kings shall see and arise, Princes also shall worship, Because of the Lord who is faithful, The Holy One of Israel; And He has chosen You.”
