They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again.

He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth. Like a lamb led to the slaughter and like a sheep silent before her shearers, he did not open his mouth.

They were hitting him on the head with a stick and spitting on him. Getting down on their knees, they were paying him homage.

I gave my back to those who beat me, and my cheeks to those who tore out my beard. I did not hide my face from scorn and spitting.

Foolish men, without even a name. They were forced to leave the land.Now I am mocked by their songs; I have become an object of scorn to them.They despise me and keep their distance from me; they do not hesitate to spit in my face.
