And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head and arrayed him in a purple robe.They came up to him, saying,“ Hail, King of the Jews!” and struck him with their hands.

You know my reproach, and my shame and my dishonor; my foes are all known to you.Reproaches have broken my heart, so that I am in despair. I looked for pity, but there was none, and for comforters, but I found none.

And he came up to Jesus at once and said,“ Greetings, Rabbi!” And he kissed him.

looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

O Lord, you have deceived me, and I was deceived; you are stronger than I, and you have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all the day; everyone mocks me.

And over his head they put the charge against him, which read,“ This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”

The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wineand saying,“ If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!”

Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One, to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nation, the servant of rulers:“ Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall prostrate themselves; because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”

For it is for your sake that I have borne reproach, that dishonor has covered my face.

But at my stumbling they rejoiced and gathered; they gathered together against me; wretches whom I did not know tore at me without ceasing;like profane mockers at a feast, they gnash at me with their teeth.
