Pilate saw that he wasn’t getting anywhere and that a riot was developing. So he sent for a bowl of water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying,“ I am innocent of this man’s blood. The responsibility is yours!”

For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it.He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds.He whispers in their ears and terrifies them with warnings.He makes them turn from doing wrong; he keeps them from pride.

Whoever stubbornly refuses to accept criticism will suddenly be destroyed beyond recovery.

When the Roman officer overseeing the execution saw what had happened, he worshiped God and said,“ Surely this man was innocent.”

When they said this, Pilate brought Jesus out to them again. Then Pilate sat down on the judgment seat on the platform that is called the Stone Pavement( in Hebrew, Gabbatha).

He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone.

When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of his experience, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins.

I could destroy you, but the God of your father appeared to me last night and warned me,‘ Leave Jacob alone!’

But that night God came to Abimelech in a dream and told him,“ You are a dead man, for that woman you have taken is already married!”But Abimelech had not slept with her yet, so he said,“ Lord, will you destroy an innocent nation?Didn’t Abraham tell me,‘ She is my sister’? And she herself said,‘ Yes, he is my brother.’ I acted in complete innocence! My hands are clean.”In the dream God responded,“ Yes, I know you are innocent. That’s why I kept you from sinning against me, and why I did not let you touch her.

When it was time to leave, they returned to their own country by another route, for God had warned them in a dream not to return to Herod.After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream.“ Get up! Flee to Egypt with the child and his mother,” the angel said.“ Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”

But when he learned that the new ruler of Judea was Herod’s son Archelaus, he was afraid to go there. Then, after being warned in a dream, he left for the region of Galilee.

As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream.“ Joseph, son of David,” the angel said,“ do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit.

We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.”

When Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt.

But the previous night God had appeared to Laban the Aramean in a dream and told him,“ I’m warning you— leave Jacob alone!”

“ I have sinned,” he declared,“ for I have betrayed an innocent man.”“ What do we care?” they retorted.“ That’s your problem.”

Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey— riding on a donkey’s colt.

And the Lord said to them,“ Now listen to what I say:“ If there were prophets among you, I, the Lord, would reveal myself in visions. I would speak to them in dreams.

My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.
