So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them,“ Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?”

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that[ were] on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

But they cried out, Away with[ him], away with[ him], crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD[ be] God, follow him: but if Baal,[ then] follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do[ unto him] whom ye call the King of the Jews?

The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ?[ They] all say unto him, Let him be crucified.

And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
