So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them,“ Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?”

若是你们以侍奉耶和华为不好，今日就可以选择所要侍奉的：是你们列祖在大河那边所侍奉的神呢？是你们所住这地的亚摩利人的神呢？至于我和我家，我们必定侍奉耶和华。”

他们喊着说：“除掉他！除掉他！钉他在十字架上！”彼拉多说：“我可以把你们的王钉十字架吗？”祭司长回答说：“除了凯撒，我们没有王。”

以利亚前来对众民说：“你们心持两意要到几时呢？若耶和华是神，就当顺从耶和华；若巴力是神，就当顺从巴力。”众民一言不答。

彼拉多说：“你们要我释放犹太人的王给你们吗？”他原晓得，祭司长是因为嫉妒才把耶稣解了来。只是祭司长挑唆众人，宁可释放巴拉巴给他们。彼拉多又说：“那么样，你们所称为犹太人的王，我怎么办他呢？”

巡抚对众人说：“这两个人，你们要我释放哪一个给你们呢？”他们说：“巴拉巴。”彼拉多说：“这样，那称为基督的耶稣我怎么办他呢？”他们都说：“把他钉十字架！”

雅各生约瑟，就是马利亚的丈夫。那称为基督的耶稣是从马利亚生的。
